Description:
A couple of years ago, I acquired two sets of GearWrench ratcheting combination wrenches. Since then, tools I’ve come to use a lot working on Corvettes for the CAC are these GearWrenches. I had been familiar with GearWrench for a long time but just never got on the bandwagon until a year or so ago. Now, I don't know how i got along without them. In fact, I hardly use the set of traditional combination wrenches I, also, have in my rollaway.

The sets of the GearWrench, flex-head, ratcheting combination wrenches I use are metric and SAE. All have Gear Wrench's characteristic, ratcheting box-end which needs only as little as 5° to turn the fastener before the wrench can be ratcheted. Their serrated beams allows one to feel which way to pull on the wrench. The flex-head tilts up to 90° each way and the flex-head has adjustable tension using a set screw. Each set comes in a handy storage/carrying rack. The 16-pc metric set is PN 9902D and the 13-pc SAE set is PN 9702D.

In using these ratcheting, box-end, flex-head wrenches, three features which stand out. First: they are a nice looking tool. I like their polished chrome finish. Second: the feel when using them. In many situations, if you don’t notice how a tool feels when using it, that’s because it’s well-designed. Think about it–if a tool has a bad design and is uncomfortable to use; you’ll notice that. I use GearWrenches all the time and don’t think about feel, so they must be good, eh? Thirdly, I have found the ratcheting, flexible box end to be a real convenience. After using them for several months, I’m wondering if I should put my old standard combination wrenches on “Craig’s List”.

We love these Gear Wrenches!
